Parties and Project

This agreement is entered into by Northwind Studio (the "Editor") and Acme Co (the "Client") for the post-production services described below. Replace the sample details with the specifics of the footage, deliverables, and delivery specs before signing.

FOOTAGE

6 hrs

Source footage delivered to the Editor via the Client's shared drive.

DELIVERABLES

3 cuts

Hero edit plus two social cutdowns tailored to platform ratios.

TURNAROUND

4 weeks

From footage receipt to final master delivery.

Recitals

The Client wishes to engage the Editor to shape source footage into finished video deliverables that match the Client's brief, brand, and platform requirements. The Editor has the editorial, color, and sound capabilities to deliver those cuts on the schedule agreed below. This contract supersedes any prior verbal or written understanding on the same subject.

Post-Production Scope

Post runs across three phases so the Client can see how the edit moves from a first cut to final delivery.

PHASE 1 · ASSEMBLY AND ROUGH CUT

Assembly and rough cut

Footage intake, ingest and organization, selects, and a first rough cut delivered as a private review link. Focus is on structure, pacing, and narrative before finer craft work begins.

PHASE 2 · FINE CUT AND FEEDBACK

Fine cut and revisions

Two rounds of consolidated Client feedback captured through timestamped comments on the review link. Music, graphics, and titles are added and refined before locking picture.

PHASE 3 · FINISHING AND DELIVERY

Color, sound, and delivery

Color grade, sound mix, captions, and final masters exported to the delivery specs. Social cutdowns are conformed to the required aspect ratios and delivered alongside the hero master.

What is included

Ingest, organization, and backup of Client-supplied footage
Editorial through picture lock with two rounds of revisions
Basic color grade and sound mix to broadcast-safe levels
Titles, lower-thirds, and captions in the Client's brand
Final masters in the agreed formats and aspect ratios

Not included: licensed music or stock footage, motion graphics beyond simple titles, voiceover recording, and translation or subtitling into additional languages. New scope can be added in writing at any time.

Fees and Rights

The engagement is a fixed-fee project billed against the three phases. Additional cuts and rounds of revisions are quoted separately.

Rights and Usage

On full payment, the Client owns the final masters and holds the rights required to use them on the agreed channels. The Editor retains the underlying project files and the right to include the finished work in a portfolio unless the Client requests otherwise in writing.

About this template

The Video Editor Contract template is a five-page document for putting a post-production job on paper before footage lands. It carries a project overview with stat cards, recitals, a three-phase scope, a fixed-fee investment table, and an acceptance page with inputs and signatures.
