Recitals

The Client wishes to engage the Designer to survey the site, prepare a landscape design, and develop a planting plan suitable for the property's climate zone and soil conditions. The Designer will hand off the plans to a landscape contractor selected by the Client for installation. Both parties agree to the scope, fees, and terms in this contract, which supersedes any prior verbal or written understanding on the same subject.

Scope of Work

The design runs across three phases. Each closes with a written deliverable and a review meeting before the next begins.

PHASE 1 · SITE ANALYSIS

Site analysis

Site visit, measurements, sun and drainage study, soil observation, and a written program of goals for the space. Existing tree and utility survey included as a base for the design.

PHASE 2 · CONCEPT DESIGN

Concept design

Two concept plans exploring layout, circulation, and planting mood. On selection, the concept is refined into a single scheme with hardscape zones, tree placements, and focal features.

PHASE 3 · CONSTRUCTION AND PLANTING PLANS

Construction and planting plans

Dimensioned construction plan, planting plan with species and quantities, and a contractor package the Client can send out for bid. Two follow-up calls with the installing contractor included.

What is included

Site analysis and base plan drawn from field measurements
Concept design, refinement, and final construction package
Planting plan tailored to the local climate zone and soil
Plant schedule with quantities and container sizes
Two follow-up calls with the installing contractor after handoff

Not included: irrigation engineering, structural or retaining wall engineering, permits, arborist reports, and installation itself. New scope can be added in writing at any time.

Investment

The engagement is a fixed-fee design commission. Installation is contracted separately by the Client with a licensed landscape contractor.

Invoices are due within 15 days. Additional site visits beyond those in the scope are billed at $185 per hour, plus travel outside the local area at cost.
