Freelancer Hourly Rate Contract

An agreement from Northwind Studio covering time-based billing, tracking, and approvals for freelance work.

Parties and Overview

This agreement is entered into by Northwind Studio (the "Freelancer") and Acme Co (the "Client") for hourly professional services billed at the rate below. The Freelancer tracks time in six-minute increments and stops at the monthly cap unless additional hours are approved.

Objectives

• Deliver approved tasks on time and on estimate.
• Keep time transparent with weekly reports.
• Stop at the monthly cap unless the Client approves more.
• Bill only for approved, itemized hours worked.

Scope and Deliverables

The engagement is a time-based retainer. Tasks are approved in writing before work begins and reported weekly.

What is included

• Task approvals with written estimates
• Six-minute time tracking on approved tasks
• Weekly time report against the monthly cap
• Refundable deposit held against the final invoice

Not included: fixed-price deliverables, exclusive availability, on-call coverage, and expenses without prior approval. Travel time is billed at 50% of the standard rate. Weekend or after-hours work is billed at 1.5x, only when the Client requests it.

Fees and Payment

Invoices are issued monthly for approved hours worked in the prior calendar month, with an itemized time report attached.

Payment Schedule

Invoices are due within 15 days. The deposit is held against the final invoice and refunded on final settlement.

Acceptance

To proceed, complete the fields below and sign. This contract is valid for 30 days from the date on the cover.
